Step 2 VLCD (Very Low Calorie Diet)

Day 3 of the program follows your 2 days of fat loading.  Food allowed during the next 21-40 days is strictly limited during this phase of the program.  Note:  There are no exceptions of foods used during this phase  of the program.  You may only use the foods listed in allowable foods.

Breakfast: Herbal tea, black tea, coffee or green tea is allowed to be consumed freely. Drinks may be sweetened with powered or liquid stevia only.  Sugar or chemical sweeteners are not allowed during the program.

You must consume at least 2 litres of filtered water per day during the weight loss phase of the program.  This may be sweetened with juice of ½ lemon or liquid stevia.

The juice of 1 lemon is allowed daily.   Start the day with the juice of ½ lemon in a glass of warm water to support digestive function.

Lunch:

  1. 100gms of lean protein per meal; veal, beef, chicken breast, fresh white fish such as snapper, flounder, prawns or lobster.  Food must be weighed raw and all visible fat must be removed before cooking. Fatty meats and fish such as salmon, tuna, herring, dried or pickled fish or meat are not allowed during phase 2 of the weight loss program.
  2. Only one type of vegetable can be used per meal, chose from the following; spinach, swiss-chard, beet-greens, salad greens, tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, zucchini or cabbage. Allow 2 cups per meal.
  3. One Medium size apple or orange, half grapefruit, half cup strawberries or berries or 2 small kiwi fruit.

Dinner:

The same 4 choices as lunch but do not consume the same protein or vegetable at dinner. E.g. if you had beef for lunch have fish or chicken at dinner.  If you had cabbage at lunch, have a different vegetable for dinner.  The same applies with your fruit – do not consume the same 2 fruits in a day.

** Note: Your two pieces of fruit may be used at any time during the day including breakfast.
